Re: Selling Maule in Alaska

Asking prices on stock PA11's are like they are gold plated when you look at what you are actually getting. Great flying little airplane, and hold value well. Picture Cub Crafter's Sport Cub LSA for about 1/4 the cost. I would not hesitate to take a good -11 on trade personally, but that is just me. Better market in the lower 48 for that one than Alaska. As a matter of fact, both my hybrid J3/PA11 and C180 went south to Washington state.

PA12's are quite popular with the AK crowd as long as they have at least the 150hp. engine with 180hp. being even better, plus flaps, -18 gear, and all the other bush mods. Good property. There is a very, very nice 150 hp. variant in Juneau with a recent Dan's Aircraft rebuild for $80K. Stock ones...not so much. I know of a good one near Fairbanks that has everything but flaps that the guy may die with for that reason only.

Champs are great airplanes, but just don't have the "cult" following of the Pipers.
