We are setting up a 1 day fly-in on the Sep 9th at Calhan Aiport 5V4 (25 miles east of Colorado Springs) for my buddies 50th Birthday! Some have probably heard me talk about him here, he has a 56 Helio Courier.
Approx start time will be noon. We are bringing in a local guy to do a hog roast. So food and drinks will be provided!! There will be some kind of bathroom onsite, and plenty of tie downs. There is a local motel in Calhan, otherwise this area is pretty remote (but close to Colorado Springs). There is an aerobatic box starting off the west side of the airport, and we have 1, possibly 2 guys coming out with aerobatic planes to put on a little show. There might also just happen to be a line drawn on the runway that pilots in the area flying into Calhan just might choose to try and land on... nothing official, no competition here. But it's a nice quiet runway to come out and practice some landings on
Another good possibility is a T6 showing up, so that could be neat! Anyway, the plan is to have a good time in an aircraft environment! Anyone is welcome to come hang out, play with airplanes and have some good food! Please post if you think you can make it so we have an approx head count for food etc.
