Service Animals on the Airlines

Saw this on SuperCub the other day under the heading "You got to be shitting me!"

Remember that nutjob's "service" pig that ran amuck on the airplane?

YGTBSM is right. I can't leave my bag near my feet, as it might impede pax during an emergency, but it's OK to have a horse, pig, or f**king monkey running loose in the aisle.

Oh funny. I was on a Southwest flight to Atlanta over a week ago and over heard the flight attendants talking about a passenger bringing a pet pot belly pig on the plane on one of their previous flights.

X2!!!!

And every flight I've been on this last few months had at least 1 screaming kid on board  I think a lot of people have completely lost all common courtesy to others these days!!

That use to only occurs in third world countries. Maybe that's where we're headed. #-o

I saw this thing at an airport recently. I overheard her mentioning it was a service dog. It got on the plane with us. I'm thinking that lady did NOT take it well when her kids left the nest.

Re: Service Animals on the Airlines

A very small taste of the BS that we deal with on a daily basis. We are limited to a certain number pets per aircraft. Call it a service animal though, and we can take them all...no mater what it is. Usually it is people just trying to not have to pay for bringing fifi. Don't get me started on those that bring pets and take them out of their carriers in the plane...or that take them out as soon as they get into the terminal because fifi needs to stretch her legs. I've seen fifi pea and crap more than once right there in the terminal and the owner trying to figure out how they are going to clean it up. Or lay out a little absorbent sheet in the terminal so that fifi can do it's business instead of taking their pet to the pet area that has been provided for them.

I could go on and on and on....not just pets but in general.

Corey I recently sat between two 737 captains who were deadheading. I picked their brains some and watching their reactions to buffonery in coach was humorous to say the least.

No doubt airport and planes are great places to people watch. Especially when so many people, stressed about traveling in the first place, now feeling a sense of some loss of control, totally check their brains curbside and act accordingly.

You got that right. My wife is on a companion dog forum where people openly tell how they save money by getting their dog registered as a service dog for that very purpose.... Plus being able to take their pet EVERYWHERE.

I can't say it is fair for the airline to charge $100 each way PLUS it counts as your carry-on....
But that is the rule. So we pay.....
It seems to me the other way is just blatantly dishonest.

NOBODY said life is fair. Get over it.

Doesn't affect me since I never fly commercial and likely never will but gotta say I'm a bit surprised by all the hate for animals in the passenger cabin from the same guys who post pictures of their dogs wearing headsets and riding in their planes!

O-2,
I have no hate. I just don't care for the people who 'short-circuit-the-system' to their advantage-which causes a change in the rules/additional rules making things harder for those with legitimate needs....

This is not at all rare in our society.....

Ain't that the truth!! I've only had one small dog whine for about a half hour on the plane. And it was the last half hour of the flight, too. Maybe something to do with the descent?
