SF Bay Area to Caveman routing.

What route do you local guys take to Caveman? I'll be flying the Bonanza with the family so we were thinking of breaking up the trip out into two parts.
I was thinking of launching from KSNS Thursday afternoon and overnighting at Kern Valley (L05). Been there once but never camped there. I know they have a nice grass area for camping and the cafe for breakfast sounds good. After that it looks like head for Vegas and then it's seems like a pretty tame route across the desert past St. George, Bryce, and into Moab.

How have you guys been getting there?

I'll probably stop in Richfield, Milford or Beaver for a top off. Might even go all the way to canyonlands to see the arches! We'll see!

I have shorter legs, I can't comfortably make it across the border into Utah unless I get a good tailwind. Last year I flew to Hawthorne, then Beaver, then Caveman. I like both of those stops because they have dirt runways available so I dont have to waste my bushwheels on asphalt. Also Beaver was much cheaper on fuel then the other nearby places, will have to check prices again this year.
