FAA and USCG are offering shallow water egress on 21 and 22 April in Anchorage. Those who have taken this training speak highly of it.

Sounds interesting. I am having an unpleasant flash back of my Navy days in the late 60's. We did several free ascents in the Submarine Escape Training Tank using the Steinke Hood. This was something that you would rebreath into. Did it from 10 ft, 25 ft, 50 ft then at 100 ft.
As I recall it was relax (as if you can do that in flooded submarine), equalize the compartment, open the hatch and then out you go.

I took this training in Juneau several years ago, it was very educational as to how turned around you can be when your plane is upside down in the water. Well worth the effort.

The company I work for sends us through Underwater Egress training at least every 3 years. This year we used a company in Langley B.C. and they did a great job. If you haven't had this training and you fly over or on the water a lot I highly recommend it.
