I'm working on our schedule for shooting Wings To Adventure TV, and thinking of heading to Idaho the last week of September.

The two locations I know about would be Quest, in Sandpoint, to do a piece on the Kodiak.

Also, I know there is an outfit in McCall which offers mountain flying instruction.

That's it. About all I know about Idaho aviation.

Looking for ideas, planes we can profile, places to go, etc.

I strongly recommend contacting Lori MacNichol at McCall Mountain/Canyon Flying seminars. That's probably the outfit you're referring to. Their web site is http://www.mountaincanyonflying.com. They offer great instruction and have loads of experience in the backcountry.

Lori has also done media and political work for preserving backcountry airstrips and did the closing segment for "Extreme Runways" on the Discovery Channel a few years back. I take refresher instruction from her every year when I go to Idaho. It's an essential safety measure for me, since I don't live close enough to fly the backcountry regularly.

Rob (Seaplanepilot) and John (Low&Slow) are instructors outta' McCall and are regulars here. You might want to hook up with one of them. Rob has an amphib supercub that sure looks sweet. If you could go to Big Creek or Johnson Creek I think both of those destinations would show well on TV and are doable in your A36. Heck, there was a Baron at Johnson Creek last weekend.

However, I'd be happy to answer questions or offer suggestions.

We (McCall Air) offer breakfast flights out of McCall; that might be kind of neat to profile. It's kind of a combo scenic tour with a landing at a backcountry strip, and then more food than any normal sized human should consume in one sitting! I prefer Big Creek (I eat free when I fly in guests!!). But we also go into Flying B, and until a few weeks ago, Sulphur Cr.

I have been to Shepp Ranch a couple of times, but I was a passenger, not the pilot. An interesting approach, to be sure!

If we could gather two or more nice planes for a day or two of flying, we could show some neat aircraft, the beautiful country, and interesting strips. We would need to leave the Bonanza behind for some of them.
