Another great little airstrip in Death Valley. You'll usually land uphill on 33 and depart downhill on 15, parking is at the departure end of 15 as is town. This one is a little shorter and a bit narrower but well worth the time for a visit. No fuel, no nothing on field (only two tie downs) but town is only 2 blocks max. Town includes (south to north from airstrip) a cafe??? that appears quite earthy with a sign that says internet. A boutique with a UFO sign outside, a bar / cafe with some pretty good food (cooks name is Jake). Across the street is the post office and a gas station / mini-mart / gift shop. Next door is a motel. Behind and on the hill is the pioneer cemetary and a bit further you'll find Dublin Gulch where there are a number of hand dug caves with wood doors and stove pipes. Signs say that they were used from 1900 - 1960 or so by a number of local community members in good standing as well as some that maybe weren't in such good standing. Very interesting. Another site says there is camping nearby but I didn't see it. Lotza' desert history and worth a look. IMHO More pictures at
