I got to make a short trip to ANC for the first time recently. I'm sure for you guys that live up that way it's just business as usual, but for me it was like going to Oshkosh without the porta-potties. Here are a few cell-phone pics from a bicycle ride around lake Hood. Just imagine the same scenes over and over again for 30 minutes of riding, plus parking lots full of wheel planes and pieces of planes as far as the eye can see.




From there I rode to Merrill to visit with Dan S. and see his Subaru-powered Bearhawk, and some of the perhaps 500 other interesting planes there.
For someone who likes little planes, especially fabric, tailwheel, and floatplanes, Anchorage is a fantastic place to see them.
