NZ not to bad yet, but in Australia you can barely even think the word 'gun' without some bleeding heart anti-gun lobbyist trying to have you locked up...
We had to surrender all our semi-auto weapons in a taxpayer funded buyback a few years ago. They paid good money for the guns. I had several chinese SKK's bought new for around A$300.00, they paid $600 each and an additional $50 for each magazine. It was quite heartbreaking watching them crush thousands of guns in a large hydraulic press...And I doubt it's had any significant impact on the gun related crime in Aus.
I even had to register my Daisy BB gun on my license!

If my choices are a well respected website like snopes that regularly debunks lies without any partisan slant or a website that proudly has a partisan passion and then, as an alternative to snopes, suggests a fact-check website that *only* has articles about how evil the left is, I pick snopes.
So, fine, you reject snopes on the basis of a random, admittedly politically driven, website. Here's a completely different set of folks who came to the same conclusion: http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/gun-co ... australia/
