Skyraider Frontier and/or Super Raider Insight?

I'm looking at either the Skyraider Super or Frontier. It's been some time since many opinions have been posted. I know several pilots who love their early Skyraiders, and all report they are like flying well behaved go-carts in the sky. But I have heard very little of the more recent kits. I would appreciate any insight from builders and/or pilots who are flying the Super or Frontier. I'm probably leaning towards the sportier Super, just to take advantage of the fun factor.

Here's another thread with some information on it.

While they look cool, and a welcome competition for the Highlander and Kitfox (and now the Rans S20), one person whom I talked to that actually flew it was not impressed. Perhaps it was an early prototype or something, but the report was stability issues. Maybe they've worked that out by now. Either way, a flight demo of all the comparable models would be in order.

I looked very seriously at the Frontier. I really like how it looks on paper but there wasn't one to fly so I ended up passing. I can't imagine spending 20K on a kit for a plane I've never flown. Also, I couldn't get in touch with anyone building one so basically the only info available was from the factory. Very nice guys there at Skyraider but they are in the business of selling planes just like every other kit manufacturer so...

What did you get a kit? If so, which direction did you go?

How many Frontiers / Super Raiders exist?

Other than the prototype, I've never seen one, even at Airventure… ??

I didn't buy any kit. My mission changed and I needed a bigger plane.

I don't know of any frontier flying at all. The demo was taken apart and I don't know if they ever put another one together. Sure was a cool looking plane and it was comfortable to sit in. The Rans s-20 reminds me a lot of the frontier.

I also looked into the frontier and found one being built in the california desert near the Salton Sea. He ended up buying the FWF from the prototype frontier. It's been a few years since I contacted him and he should be flying by now. I will see if I can find his info and if I do will send you a PM. He did say he had some issues with the kit but sorted them out on his own.
