Not too long ago the Cowl Louver STC that is held by the 180/185 club disappeared from their web store. The STC Number is SA777NE and is still in listed in the FAA’s Regulatatory and Guidance Library.

That being said, does anybody know where I can score the paperwork? The mod is already on the 185, but like most things, it was installed without documentation. I am trying really hard to fix these things so the next guy doesn’t have to.

Have you called the 180/185 Club? The last discussion about this on their website was back at the first of the year and there were comments made about being removed from the store to straighten out some paperwork... whatever that means. Someone said to call the club and put your name on the list to be notified when it was available again.

Does anyone have a field approval for the cowl louvers they might share. If the STC isn't supported, I'm going to try to get my FSDO to do a FA.

Don't know about over there, but the SEA FSDO is not very field-approval friendly these days.
Do you have a source for the louvers?
If so, I think I would be looking for a (non tailnumber-specific) photocopy of the STC,
and just do a regular 337 & logbook entry.

I have a set of the lovers as an owner produced part. My IA is a bit squeamish about letting me install as a minor, having the STC would make life a bit easier.

Spokane has been reasonably easy to work with, but who knows how they might act on this project. It's only my time, I'm not paying someone else to pursue this.

I sent another email to the Skywagons R Us club the other day about the availability of the STC. I haven't heard anything back yet. If they don't plan on selling the STC paperwork anymore, we might have to get someone reputable like @Aeropod to come up with a kit.

The STC the club used to sell had no stamp with S/N specificity on the face sheet. You got a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy... Some might just get a copy of the Alphin STC face sheet / install docs and put them in.

To me it sounds like this STC has been abandoned.

I would also thoroughly enjoy getting my hands on a copy of the paperwork for references on obtaining a field approval. I knew I should have bought the STC paperwork for $5 back when it was still being sold.

How hard can this be? It’s just paper. I don’t understand why they don’t just turn it loose.

My understanding is that they never actually owned it, and the original owner has passed away and there is an issue with the family that owns the STC... or something messy like that. The skywagon org has tried to buy it, but as of yet they have not been able to get something worked out.

Personally I'd find a friend with it and pay them $10 for a copy, but what do i know

A few posts up Greg said they didn't include the serial number, just a photocopy.

ISTM that isn’t a legal STC, but there’s a lot I don’t know.

Ryan, paperwork aside, I'm curious if your 185 is in flying condition?
