Snake on a Float Plane

I spent last night at Crescent Lake in the swamp cabin. Water was good and low and I was grounded in soft sandy bottom well away from the cypress trees. I always wear snake hips to load and unload there to the number of snakes I have seen over time.
This time in spite of cutting a lot of brush and high grass I did not see a single slider.
When I left, I cycled the gear in the water to make sure that I had washed any sand out of the system and went to Flagler for fuel which required another cycle and flew the two hours to F45 and cycled the gear again to land.
Bottom line - as I was about to push into the hanger I saw something dangling from my left main wheel, and thought that it must be weeds from Lake Crescent. Nope, I had a passenger all wound up between the wheel and the brake disk. It took removing the wheel to get the critter out. In two pieces. Local snake folks say it was a young cotton mouth!! Lots of ground cotton mouth on the wheel and brakes. All clean and reassembled not.
Wonder what made it pick that spot , when did it get in there and what landing killed it?

I went up to close up the swamp cabin for the summer. I leave for AK within a week.
So now the cub is a true worm burner. Talk about getting wrapped about your axel.
