During a recent Annual Inspection of a 30-year-old Alaskan float-plane with no reported damage history, a small collection of old snail shells were discovered inside of the wings . . . . . Can anyone explain this, aside from the obvious?

In wet climates every now and then the snails will take over the landscape. They get into everything.
