We call them snow wheels. In the mountains on a warm day they roll down steep slopes. My wife found this one when we were out ski-dooing on valentines day a couple years ago.

We call them cinnamon rolls...
I've seen them made by strong wind like the ones in your pics or by gravity.
Just takes the right sticky snow and a push.

It's funny how many names people have for these. I call them "snow snails."
For backcountry skiers they can indicate wet, unstable snow and potential avalanche conditions, but I'm guessing avalanches aren't likely to happen in Ohio!
