So I started a blog...
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
Nothing to fancy but started a blog. Been flying a lot of folks out to the Black Rock Desert this week. Counted maybe 40 planes or so today. It was very very windy. Anyhow, check out the blog and tell me what ya think.

I love it. Will you be having a pro-am open to the public? I took my wife to Tahoe in the Maule once a few years ago, I think I could find my way out there again. Sure looks like a lot of fun.

Nicely done! Did you get a chance to see your ground speed on short final?

I didn't...it was blowing so hard it seriously felt like a heli. Came straight down and then a 50 ft roll or so...I am betting my speed was 45 or so. Had 3 plus me and gear with 30 gallons on board. Thinking about it now, I bet it was a touch faster than that even. Hot, heavy and windy. Had there been any kind crosswind I would of aborted the landing.

Nice blog Kevin, looks like a good way to weave current pics into a narrative.
Interesting shots from Black Rock. I haven't been out there but it looks like southern Afghanistan.

I have not figured out why people do blogs. I guess they enjoy it. Some are great writers. To much work for me. I'll just stick to BCP where did you fly today. Cheers...Rob

Honestly Rob the blog is more for me to archive stuff.... and of course all my fans (just kidding) that dont know about this site.
Its a great place to archive your flying bottom line and its really easy to do. With all of your flying adventures you should have one. One can start to feel like a douche always posting his photos etc. For a while I had an entire page in the "where did you fly today" thread. Sort of wish others would post more photos here. Seems like its always the same 6 or 8 guys. Not that I dont like those posts as they are really good. I just know there are a lot of others out there flying (i hope) and should post more photos on their adventures....including a photo album so I can spend more time killing here looking at them...

dont wanna derail the topic, as i do like your blog ak,but never have figured why people would spend their precious time at burning man...if i get that bored, somebody just send me to the middle fork, and i'll camp out at the B or elsewhere till i cant stand it anymore...

I could not agree more! To sit in a dirty dusty desert all week takes some ...hmmmm
I do enjoy flying them out there...the desert is beautiful...Its not Alaska or the high sierra but has its own beauty. Even more so, every time I go that way I cross over one ridge after another and log it as a place to go in the near distant future.
You know..I hear burning man has a boobi parade. Something like 5000 naked woman parading down the main street...Sounds festive.

At this time of year at Black Rock it always blows very strong in the afternoon, like clockwork. But it's completely still at 7 a.m.
Did you have a chance to land at or at least overfly Rabbit Hole aka Barrel Springs? It's about 23 miles exactly due east from this year's BRC.
Edit: Sorry, never mind. I recognize the nick now.
