Some back country Videos

I have posted some of my videos on You tube. I have posted on other boards but not on this one I have some landings at The Minam, Sulphur Creek, Owyhee Res. State. Plus some dirt landing strips, not really well known. http://www.Youtube.com/skybobb.

Great stuff Bob. Felt like I was right in there with ya. How was lunch at Rome? I have some good breakfasts there. Haven't been out there with the 182, made a few trips when I had the 180. You'd think someone would hit that strip with a blade.

Take care, Bub

Hey Skybobb,
Good Videos and thanks for sharing them....where is the the strip at Johnson's Holdout, I thought I was a little familar with that neck of the woods, but that one don't ring a bell....
You know it's a small world when you're on the computer watching someone else's videos and you hear a familar voice....Yea, when you were going into Minam, I know that guy quite well who called in a back taxi at Red's....
If you ever get up this way again, give me a two minute lead time and I'll met you in at Minam or wherever for coffee or breakfast...I'm easy and always looking for an excuse.....

I thought I knew Rome pretty well, and everything you flew over looked very familiar but I have no idea where that strip is.Please post coordinates or anything to help us find it. A friend took my fiance fishing in Rome when he was a little kid and he fell in love. We go back as often as we can. All we do when we are there is camp, fish and wonder around but some how we've missed the strip.

Thanks for the video,
Sara

Johnsons Holdout cow camp is about striaght west of the 28U Owyhee Res State, It is right next to a mnt they call Quartz Mnt. If you know where the page place strip is You can just fly around the end of Quartz Mnt. toward the river and you will fly right over it. Stay close to the hill.

Speaking of Rome, I've always wondered why that big paved strip is out there in the puckerbrush instead of closer to town. Seems like a lot of airstrip just to maintain a VOR station.

I've been told that during WWII that was a training strip for B17 bombers. It was about 4300' so in the summer they could get some Density altitude work on takeoffs. I guess you know we were talking about the one next to the river at the Rome station.

Shawn Sorry I clicked on the wrong Quote box. I will stop by some day. I am in West Linn Or. for the winter months I will be back in April. That flight you liked was a great experience for me as well as for Francis. We both had a great time. He died about 8 months after our flight and the film of our flight was shown at his funeral.

Abe, I would love to do that some time. I thought that I met you one time when I flew into the Minam. I was the Ore. rep for the 170 club at one time and maybe that was where I met you we flew into Joseph once. I had a 170 B at that time. Johnsons Cow camp is right under Quartz Mnt. on the east side it it directly west of the Owyhee Res. strip. about 8-10 miles.
