Spark Plug Resource
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Found a great resource for plugs. plugguy.com This guy is a great resource and his prices are very reasonable, ships quick and is a great communicator. Just bought a new set for the Peril, $10 a plug.

Are they Champions or Autolites? Either way, that sounds like quite a deal. Going rate for the Autolites seems to be around $16 a pop, and for the Champions around $20. 6 to 10 bucks savings per plug sounds great, esp when you consider that you need 12 of them bad boys.
I'll have to remember that website address for when the time comes to replace mine.

The Autolites are junk. Champions will out last them 2 or 3 times over.

I don't know about that, the Autolites I'm running now have close to 500 hours on them and they look & run great. I had to replace the last set of Champions (before these autolites) at 456 hours, they still looked good but the resistors (the "R" in the REM part number) went gunnysack & the engine started running like shit. But the last set of Champions before that lasted close to a thousand hours, near as I can tell by the logs (installed by a previous owner).

hmmm.... the 14mm ones for my franklin are 35 a pop for the new ones. I would love to find a cheaper, but still good plug.

A note on service from this outfit: Ordered Tuesday, arrived Thursday priority mail with a thank you note and an invoice. And to correct my first post, these are reconditioned Champions. Not new. But still half to a third of new price.

Ok boys, what's the verdict? Champion or Autolite? And is it even worth the savings to go for a reconditioned plug?
I'm gonna replace all my plugs (after pulling them and visually inspecting and verifying my leads are good) so I may check this plug guy out.

Champions are the better plug and I think have more consistency in their quality control.
I personally don't like to run reconditioned plugs, for what little I save over new.
Whatever you do don't mix plugs. Run the same in the top and bottom.

Just a personal preference, but I don't like recon plugs either... and if I'm going to be operating out of tight spots, and really needing to depend on that engine, I run wire plugs... they just don't let ya down. They're expensive, but they last a long time and don't mess up... worth every penny in my book. We ran alot of them on Beavers and Otters and you'd throw them in the back holes and forget about them..they were always there and working.

I believe he's talking about the Irridium plugs. They are supposed to be the ticket. The Champion rep at Sun-N-Fun told me the would last until TBO of an engine. Hard to believe. I may go that route when I next need plugs as I have a new engine. They are around $700 for a set of 12 I think. Unless I can get a better price than that I may stick with Massive electrode, just because of the price.

Yep, fine wire Irridium plugs.. nothing in the world like them. It's no lie when he says they'll go the distance to TBO... seen it lots of times.
