Re: Speed Enforced By Aircraft

Ahh man that is great!

I have had 53 speeding tickets in my life: starting at age 19 and the last one was in Nebraska this past summer(age 63). I've only had one as a result of an airplane monitoring speed. But they didn't fire any missles!! I told the trooper that it was a shameful, perverted use of an aircraft. He ticketed me anyhow.

You average 1.2 tickets per year? your auto insurance must rival or pass your aircraft policy!

Re: Speed Enforced By Aircraft

Damn Bob, I'd be fired if I had that many tickets!

My last speeding ticket was in central CA on I-5 by a "Bear in the Air". That was back around 2005 and in the big rig. Now I stay within 5 MPH of the posted speed limit on the interstates and main highways.

Re: Speed Enforced By Aircraft

This is the God's Truth,

I've never had my insurance rates go up one cent or had my insurance cancelled. I've had the same insurance agent and same company for 36 years! During that time Shelter Insurance has repaired 19 wrecked vehicles of mine, my wife's and our kids. So help me....never had a rate increase. Now my agent is retiring in March of this year....so I may have to slow down a bit.

My licence was suspended once back in 1991. From 1981 to 1999...every other week end.... I drove over 1,000 miles, double round trip each week end bringing the children from my first marriage to our home in Missouri on Friday and returning them to Indiana on Sunday. Over 400,000 miles during an 18 year period. The route took me across the full width of Illinois on hwy. I-64. I would set my cruise control on 90 m.ph. and just let her roll. I'd get about two speeding tickets each year. Illinois back then had a cash fine of $50.00. The trooper would follow me to a post office mail box and we'd deposit the cash in an special envelope. I figured that the money was a cost of doing business and it saved me hundreds of hours on the road.

Illinois has a reciprocal agreement with Missouri to honor one anothers moving violations and accumulate points against one's licence. I had accumulated about 25 tickets in Illinois and nothing had ever happened. So I continued to drive with impunity. My oldest son, who lived with me, got a ticket in Illinois driving to visit his mom in Indiana and never paid it. When the court clerk looked up his record in Illinois...there right below his name was my name! 25 tickets and the information had never been provided to Missouri. Boom...they shot all 25 tickets to Missouri at once and my licence was suspended for 30 days!! After that I made sure that the points on my licence stayed just below suspension.

Warrenton, Wentzville, St Peters, Mo kicked my ass in tickets last year. Beat a couple, paid one. Got one going to court to fight one.

I just remembered this one....... One early morning about 2:00am I was rolling westbound on 36 through Macon, MO. Not one other car or rig on the road, then all of a sudden an SUV rolls up next to me and bam!! The disco lights light up like a Christmas tree  . Then off, then I hear on my CB........

Trooper: "Got it on Big Truck?"

Me: "Yes sir [-o< "

Trooper: "Let's kick it down a notch [-X !!!"

Me: "Yes sir!!! I apologize!! "

And I wasn't doing much over 5 MPH over the speed limit through that section of highway, too :?
