Spokane area camping

Anyone know of any good places to camp in the vicinity of Spokane, WA? Going to be visiting some friends in Spokane and would like to camp out there somewhere if possible.

Take a look at 4S6 Tieton State on Shortfield.com. I have not ever been, but really want to check it out. It's accessible by road or plane.

Grand Coulee is a great one. About 45 minutes from Spokane. Sullivan Lake is another one. NE of Spokane. You might check out Priest lake area too.

Life is good. Life is better with wings.

Re: Spokane area camping

I would suggest Sullivan Lake in the northeast corner of Washington, or Magee in Northern Idaho. You should also check out Cavanaugh bay on Priest Lake. There's a good restaurant on the water right next to the grass runway. These are all within 75nm of Spokane.

I agree with robw56. I've lived in Spokane all my life and Magee, Cavanuagh Bay and Sullivan lake are all good options. It just depends on what style of camping you are after. Better try to hit them all!

My mind went to Yakima for some reason. Tieton would not be a good choice.

Re: Spokane area camping

Any local info on S77 McGee airport. Looks to be about 23 miles from Cour d'Alene, ID.

BTW, the Idaho Airport App. is a very nice tool if you are flying in the ID area. Can't speak to the Android version but the iPad version is quite nice.

The northern 1/3 of the airstrip was soft and had standing water this time last year when I was there. I heard it's the same this year so you might want to confirm that before going. You can see some of the standing water in my picture above if you look closely at the far end of the strip.

I landed on Magee a few weeks ago. The north 1/3 was under water, as well as the entire camping area and fire rings. It may have gone down by now, but it would be good to get a PIREP from someone before you go! I sent in a PIREP to the Idaho Aviation Association website after we were there. From the North touchdown markers to the south end was good and dry.
