I don't know if any of you have fallen for the SPOT purchase rebate program. I have had no luck at all in obtaining my rebate from the third party rebate center. I have discussed with the SPOT company directly and provided the necessary documentation proving purchase and activation. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR REBATE PROGRAM AND SURELY DO NOT PROVIDE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. The unit has functioned fine, but beware the rebate program has proved a sham for me with no backup from the company!

I ran into the same BS with Canon a few years ago on a camera purchase. They work hard to find a way out of paying up. In general I avoid rebate-based pricing.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Same here, bought one last year during Christmas time when they had the $50 rebate. Still have not seen the check.

It took a while, but my SPOT was purchased in Nov 2008 and received the rebate around April of this year if I recall correctly. Rebates do suck. I am waiting on a couple hundred dollars worth from Airventure rebates for instruments.

I have had since my SPOT since July 2008. Had no problem with the rebate and am happy with the product. Waiting for the new hardware and cost for the unit (exchange?).

I finally got mine after 5 months from SPOT- had several emails and calls before they came thru. SPOT is a great device for it's intended purpose.

I have no complaints about the unit itself, but if they don't improve customer relations they can kill a good product!
