You want some company, I'll go over there, and the surrounding area, anytime you feel like it.

Got room for a passenger who brings gas money? HAHA. With all going on with my hip I'm not sure if I'll be able to go when this is all planned yet, depends on surgery date and stuff.

Expect primitive accomodations. If it is better than that, be delighted.
This is a work in progress that has been going on and off for MAAANNNNYYY years.

It is an awesome spot, good guy, but it hasn't reached 5 star. Probably working on 2 star.

I will try and get progress reports as the date gets nearer, but you can see the problem in communication, and it costs me over $100.00 every time I need to go check on somethin.

Gary

Hey Gary,

I guess I should have deleted all of that other stuff and just kept the one line that said "No kids under 12!" That is the only one I had a question about since I am planning on going with my wife and two kids. Any intel on their stand on that?

Thanks,
Cory

Hey Cory

Haven't heard anything from Rod yet. As I said, I will go over there sometime in the next couple weeks and see if I can get some questions answered. We are kinda weathered in right now, looks like for the next week or so, So when the crap gets out of here, I'll take a trip over.

Re: Spring Utah Fly-in Pt 2

Just so we are all on the same page

I will be updating this post as info comes in/changes, so ya don't have to look all over to find stuff.

I have tried, but have not had any communication with Rod, other than receiving the release in the mail. This is not a bad thing, just the way it is because he is in an area where there are no phones, no power, no internet, no cell phone service. Kinda like you would expect(and even hope for) for backcountry :D

As soon as the weather clears here, I will fly over and see if I can catch up with him, see how the rooms are coming, what he has to say about kids/dogs being there, if he has a net for the tennis court

There are atleast 3 decent rooms(IMHO) downstairs in the lodge. As was said before, there are 9-10 cave rooms that they are in the process of being remodeled. It is my impression that even if the rooms aren't finished, it will be OK to stay in them.

Meanwhile, I have had a few express an interest in having a room, so I am starting a list. It will be 1st come, 1st serve. And, in that order, I have Green Hornet, Mike and Jan Marker, Drifter, Dirtstrip, HiCountry, Travis Reese, Don Gosney. I will update this list, ON THIS POST, if any others express an interest.

I have about 30 planes sofar. This could be good.

Cautin, low power lines crossing the river to the pot ash mine, upstream from Caveman Ranch

I am recommending to the pilots to email in the release, and make a copy and bring it with them.

If any of you have anything else on your mind at this time that I can talk with Rod about, just let me know.

And, I am still pushin the Fly Utah Book, and map if you haven't spent much time flying the area. I know it will cost ya around a hundred bucks, but it is a great source of information, and should provide hours of entertainment. So, get it, look it over, and use it to help plan what you would like to do when you get there.

Just got off the phone with Rod =D> =D> . No problem with kids or dogs. Just be responsible, and keep them under control, and out of trouble.
He also has some news outfit coming down from SLC. so you will all probably more famous than you already are

You too, huh? I found a quick break in the wx a couple of days ago and was able to make a few laps in the pattern. Thanks for the response, the info, and for your time in putting this together. We are really looking forward to it. How much is he charging for the rooms each night? That might have been covered previously. so forgive me if I have forgotten.

Gary,

I don't need a room. I will gladly sleep in the dirt. So if there's anyone that would like the comfort of a room, or needs one due to family reasons, by all means, its yours.

And once again, thanks for putting in the time and effort for allowing this to happen.

Mornin Matt

Well, let's say at this point, you have a room if you want it, and, if we run out of rooms, and somebody wants one, we'll givem yours. Sound OK? Final decision to made before you leave home w/o your tent. :D

This sounds great. Does anyone bring their wife? Mine is interested in joining, but I think there may be a lot of risk there. What if the wx is fantastic and she likes it. She thinks I am really roughing it when I do these trips.

And I already know how the work load increases with the significant other along.

Looking fwd to responses.

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Re: Spring Utah Fly-in Pt 2

I would like to join the group. And I want a tee-shirt (large). But my question is, will there be room to park all the airplanes? - this looks like a very popular event.
