St Anthony drag races

Hi guys,,,

I believe Nosedragger made a comment about drags being run at the St Anthony Idaho airport this weekend, May 7. If the weather holds up I am going to try like hell to get over there. I did call flight service and there is no NOTOM for a runway closure so my guess it will be run on the ramp, taxiway ???

Anyone got the low down on how this event happens ??? Where to park the plane? Etc....

Thanks in advance.

Ben.

Re: St Anthony drag races

The drags are in the parking area but there's lots of infield parking, a half dozen spots left on the asphalt and both the dirt and asphalt runways will be open. Bring room for some $4.15 100ll. I'm meeting with them tonight so I'll make sure there's a couple tie down spots left for visitors. BTW, these are fun but short, run what you brung races. twenty real race cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, four wheelers, pit bikes, quarter horses...think county fair.

I'll stop by and see if any of you are around, I'll be the good looking one signing autographs. :P

Oh man....

I have already paid Freemont County the franchise fee for MY autograph booth and they told me I would not have any competition. :^o

Thanks Nosedragger for the info... I hope the weather holds up for me to zip over there...

$4.15 100LL in St. Anthony? More like $5.85 the last time I checked...

Well, I see they booked a rodeo the same weekend on the other side of the fence. That should make for a little extra exitement. Weather is lousy on this side of the mountain too no rain yet but 30 kt. winds. AJ- I forgot to check tonight but fuel was $4.15 last weekend.

Re: St Anthony drag races

Was planning on being there but didn't finish the honey do list. St. Anthony has the best 100ll price around...unless you got a key for fuel in Rigby.

I hope I am wrong because that would be great if it really was $4.15 (less than what I paid for diesel today  )

Re: St Anthony drag races

The mountain in my avatar behind my place is covered halfway down by a dark looking cloud, so I'm not going anywhere! I'd be in the soup getting through the pass, unless I flew the long way down the valley and even that looks iffy.

Poor weather here too. Even if I was able to sneak over the mountains it looks real wet in St Anthony so no stuff can run on ther track... I will look later to day... Anyone have the times of this event or maybe a raindate ?

The wind is howling (nothing new for S.E. ID) and raining like a SOB.

Re: St Anthony drag races

I suppose it's cancelled. I'm going down after awhile to see what's shaking. I'm sure it's too wet to run cars but they'll engineer some creative ways to get rid of all the beer and BBQ. The team ropers will be carrying on, they're tougher than woodpecker lips.

Whee- I've got a key to the Rigby truck but what I really need is the ignition key so I don't have to push my plane and 82 gallons of fuel away from it across the gravel. Is it still that way? I haven't been there for a year.

I think so. I was gonna get a key be decide not so I'm not exactly in the know but when I talked with them a few months back you still had to pull up the the truck.

Re: St Anthony drag races

Well the $4.15 avgas is officially over. Neal was nice enough to come tell me today to go fill my plane before he jacked the price. It seems that someone came and tankered off a couple thousand gallons over the weekend drawing his attention to current prices. Thanks for the info whee, I hope my fuel door key still works in Rigby [-o<
