Stabilizer boot

Hello everyone,

I am having my 1979 Cessna R172K painted and was wondering where I can purchase stabilizer boots in order to replace the old ones.

thanks

Re: Stabilizer boot

There was a discussion about them on the 170 website. You'll want to check those part numbers.... they might be different for a 172 but I'm sure your Cessna parts dealer can tell you. Here's the link:

There was talk about that here also a while back. They come in different thichnesses and it seems there was a shop in Anchorage that sold some thicker ones.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: Stabilizer boot

I got mine for the 180 from Kenmore in Washington, but there's probably a source closer to you. I found the 3M adhesive somewhere else (Aircraft spruce?).

The ones I have seem just about right for smaller rocks and gravel. I believe the 206 boots are thicker, but not sure if it really makes a difference unless you're really roughing it.

If you are looking for a beer boot on the other hand, a possible source would be VAT19:

Re: Stabilizer boot

For me, the thicker the better. Next time, I'll put one on top of my verticle stabilizer too. :D
