Coyote Ugly wrote:I had a friend that took his seat belt off to reach into the baggage compartment of his Super Cub, for more shotgun shells, and while he was stretched out across the seat backs, reaching into the baggage area, the little belt loop on his Levis hooked on the door release lever, the door came open with all of his weight against it. He fell out and caught the wing strut with his armpit. His feet were trying to hang on, as he was falling out, so they caught the stick, pulling it back to the right rear corner of travel. The Cub went straight up into a right wingover, as he was trying to get back in. I asked him how long it took him to get back into the plane, and he said "Seemed like forever, but probably about a third of a second!!". If he had of fallen completely out of the plane, we would have been wondering why his body was so far from the plane too....

Although I haven't been blessed with too many engine failures, none of them resulted in my aircraft falling straight down.
Atleast, I know mine won't.58Skylane wrote:WrenPilot wrote:Intelligent speculation might not even be that bad but tidbits like "it couldn't have been engine failure because when that happens a plane falls straight down and the debris field indicates that wasn't the case" made me cringe. Come on now, most planes will not just fall out of the sky, striaght down to the earth after an engine failure!!Atleast, I know mine won't.
