What's the advantage of ditching the remote cable system?

Still working on it... Unfortunately since COVID the FAA has pretty much shelved everything when it come to getting updated approvals..

Less chance of the cable "sticking" and draining all your fuel out of the bowl. But, for those that want to keep it I do have a remote drain bowl option.. It is 4oz and works well with Cessna's..

Without the cable, are you reaching up through the cowl flap and draining the bowl then? Sorry, unfamiliar.

I'm a little worried about my strainer drain, I have to pull pretty hard/far ton the knob to get any flow, to the point where I think the aluminum where the pull is mounted is starting to give a little from years of yanking.

Yes you just reach up and use the same sump checker that you use for your tanks. Not really much of a reasch as the bottom of the drain is right there.
Another advantage is the ease of servicing these compared to removing the old stand pipes on the original one. Steves are awesome.

It appears all Husky models are now on the list.

Edit: well maybe not the C 180.

I ditched my cable pull on the strainer drain on my Steve’s. The sump is actually right next to my cowl flap but is easily accessible. It is nice to be able to see the fuel that is sumped as well, just another confirmation there isn’t water and debris blocking the system. Steve’s are way cheaper to service as well, Cessna strainer parts are ridiculously expensive.
