Re: Straight tail 182 diet plan

My 180 came with leftovers of the fabric which had been used to cover the door & side panels. These are all still in place, as is the wool headliner. The extended baggage was bare. I didn't want to ding the sides, so I got some foam-cored posterboard & cut pieces to fill in between the stringers then spray glued the fabric to them. Then got a chunk of left-over carpet & cut it to fit the floor. Not fancy but came out pretty good.

David, the zinc was not affected by the adhesive remover and shows no bad signs a few weeks later either. There was glue from the Velcro that held carpet in place on it. However, where I scrubbed really hard with scotch bright and a scraper it removed a little, but that's to be expected.

Sorry for the late reply MTV, I'm still learning to use this awesome forum. In answer to your question, you'll notice in my photo that my 185 doesn't have a floor in it! I ripped it all out to replace it and install a sea plane kit. So, it wasn't an issue for me. However, I do agree that it could be problematic with a built airplane. I will say that a skywagon will drain pretty well with all of the inspection plates pulled. I'll bet we ran a million gallons of hot water through every part of mine.
