Here's the answer to CoyoteUgly's question about when someone is going to land a wingsuit without a chute!

Video of the jump is included at the link.

Wow, That looked pretty easy. I bet that cardboard hurt like hell at 90mph. I wonder how long it took for him to wander out of that mess of boxes.

Well, if that qualifies as a landing, I guess mine aren't that bad.

Nice stall. I think styro foam cups would work better.

Terminal velocity is only 122MPH. I bet he could have dropped straight into that pile of boxes and survived. I will be impressed when I see someone stall it on the ground and walk away.

Here's a far more impressive feat - Dean Potter "Free BASEing" the Eiger:

I'm surprised he was able to fly at all with balls that big! Think of the drag. =D>

Almost looks fake . Funny how it's been pumped up so much and then someone does it and it looks like it was pretty much a non event. That guy is very brave. Was he wearing a rig? I could not tell.He will go down in history . I bet Jeb is bummed he was not first.

Re: Stuntman Lands Wingsuit WITHOUT A PARACHUTE

Based on some still pics on his website, it appears the jumper wore a chute. Most news articles have said the jump was made "without deploying a parachute."

According to what I read, he slowed from his glide speed of 80 miles per hour down to a landing speed of 50 miles per hour and a vertical falling speed of 15 miles per hour.

As for Jeb's reaction, here's his comment as posted on his website:

"I am amazed to say the least :) He did it. Gary Connery landed the wing-suit"

Re: Stuntman Lands Wingsuit WITHOUT A PARACHUTE

Yuppers, but I still say somebody will land one on level ground with out the boxes or anything. Probably water first?? Then sand or grass?? Maybe even snow and land it going down a slope first??

This is a great accomplishment tho, and I sure don't take anything away from this feat. Good job, and like Gump says, Bowling sized Balls. He should go in the record books.

Ha, I like Tim's idea of Styrofoam cups..

Styrofoam cups......, or a small mountain of 'ghost turds' (aka packing peanuts) over a woven bed of 'swim noodles'......

I can come up with ideas for 'other people' to try....... :)
