I saw on the supercub.org site that some guys were hosting supercubbers at their camp on the flightline. Might wanna check that out.

Any other east coasters on here?

Sun N Fun

I have a lake north of there if anyone needs fuel on straight floats.
The lake is Just north of the palatka moa 1 & 2.

3000 ft with 100 ft trees...

I have a husky on the lake and only use 1/4 of the lake in and out.

We have a private strip one mile north if anyone needs a pick up for SNF.

Keystone 46J is 5 miles north for cheap SS fuel...

Hey Floatin, I'm 12 miles south of Palatka at a private strip. I'll have to come up and give you a haircut.

I am going to 2008 Sun 'N Fun on April 8th and 9th. Any of you guys planning to be there? Maybe get together and have one of their $12 burgers?

Main mission is looking for avionics and instruments for the Zenith 701 project. Secondary mission is having FUN!

a64pilot,

Unfortunately, I have business committments on either end of the trip so I can't afford to fly down in my plane and risk getting stuck in the weather. April winds are brutal in Florida! So, it is the belly of the aluminum beast for me!

When are you planning to be there?

Probably Wed or Thurs on. Depends on how much I take off of work. There are a bunch of airplanes in aircraft camping, but seemingly no Maules. I spend a lot of time sitting by mine and answering " what kind of plane is that?" I need one of those boards like we used to put by the Apaches at airshows, or start telling everyone it's a Cessna. because almost certainly after I tell them it's a Maule, comes the next question, "what's a Maule?"

a64pilot,

When you get a chance PM me your tail number and cell phone so we can get in touch. I would definitely like to stop by and ask you "What's a Maule?"

I might make it but only if I go by airliner (GO Southwest WooHoo). I just cant seem to find a way to make it work in the husky over the weekend, just too far.

I am planning to bring the Maule down and camp under the wing. I may head out on Monday or Tuesday and plan to head back to TN on Thursday. I need to make a few stops to visit clients either on the way up or down so I could slide the days towards the end of the week if others will be there during that time.

Jody...I have not looked at the direct route, but if it brings me anywhere near you then we should head down together...we could answer the Maule questions together.

Direct 471 nm. and some over water. The divert by KABY makes it 482nm., but no over water. You will have to divert east of a direct route to stay out of Tampa's airspace and execute the arrival into KLAL anyway. I can have Mogas for you here in Albany. I'd like to travel as a pair. David's trying to have his 300hp. clipped wing experimental Maule ready by then as well, but if he makes it, I'm sure they will be there on day one.

I do not know if I could handle the extra 11 miles to divert.

Sounds like we need to get some firm plans going when the time gets closer...it is always more fun to travel with more than one aircraft.

I'm down on Thursday. Flying either a 170A or 38' Waco ambulance model.

Okay - Sun 'N Fun is getting close. I will be there Wednesday and Thursday. I got a64pilot's number (and I know how to use it too!). Are bluesideup, lowflybye and Renegade still planning on being there? Anybody have Zane's chair?

Work & weather permitting I am planning to head down Tuesday morning and will stick around till Thursday...camping under the wing. We have an airshow here in town on Saturday & Sunday with the Blue Angels, so if I do not get home by Thursday evening I could wind up with airspace closure problems since they use Friday for practice.

a64pilot...you still want me to swing through your neck of the woods and hook up with you for the flight in?

Sure, but I won't be leaving until Wed. about 4PM if that's OK with you. I will be meeting at least one C-140, possibly two close by Lakeland for the flight in.
Last year I got there early and got to circle that lake a lot. That and the near miss with a Cozy has taught me to arrive about 15 or 20 min. after the airfield opens for landings and you fly right in and land. That is how it went year before last and that was a lot more fun than watching out for aircraft joining the gaggle flying around the lake.

If it's not too hokey, anybody that stops by here, I can give them a tour of the plant.
