Sun visor for 8GCBC Scout

Good morning all:

Anyone know of a company that makes a sun visor for the Scout? I checked Rosen and they do not show a visor made specifically for the Scout. This is my first summer with the Scout in Texas and its bright inside.

Thanks so much,

Tom, I went to Wal-Mart and bought some sun shades in the automotive section.... they stick on with two suction cups. works great.

What Joe said, then I tie my bandanna to the bar just in front of your head.
The black double suction shades on the top works wonderful, you can still see through them.

Tube mount won't work? Might not be STC'ed but it looks to be easy-on easy-off.

Visor for Scout and STC'ed

You know, I think the tube mount would work. Now, a new pilot question: STC'ed?? I know this is a special type certificate. What are the issues in using a piece of equipment that is or is not STC'ed in your aircraft? I really don't know the difference and would like to know. Would it possibly affect your insurance coverage on the aircraft if there was a claim?

Cheap option that I have used on old rag an tube planes is to buy a box of Binder Clips like the DPS 2" Binder Clips (Diversity Products Solutions).
Can get them at most Stationary Supplies / Offic Max / etc.
They come in a box of twelve, put 2 or 3 on each tube, Fold chart to suit, and clipem up as suits ya.

May not work on an overhead solar oven window!

I'm an A&P/IA and cannot figure out why I can clamp a GPS to my yoke (a flight control no less) without an STC, but to clamp a smoke colored piece of plastic to an airframe tube requires an STC.
I honestly think it has to do with whether it is considered a temporary thing. Don't use the word "alteration". I believe you could effectively argue it is temporary if it is mounted with thumb screws instead of screws that require a tool to install and remove.
Now this is opinion, not based on any FAR or anything, but if you can get a straight answer let me know.
It's a supplement to the type certificate, a special type certificate is different

A big stack of paperwork with engineers' and FAA signatures and rubber stamps. :)
