Most of the replys have been non-LSA types. For a second, inexpensive plane that you have the option of operating without a medical, you seem like the perfect candidate for an LSA. Sticking with the tandem tail dragger criteria, that's likely a Rans S7, Zlin Savage Cub, Legend Cub, CarbonCub, and others. Carbon Cub is the other end of the spectrum for cost. Zlins's are hard to find if you want a built used one, but out there and nice planes (a since improved copy of an older Rans, and nice planes it seems). Legend Cubs are really nice planes, if you are looking for a "cub clone", but they are more cub speed also ~ 85mph.
I am biased of course, but I think the S7 fits the bill pretty well. about as easy to get in tandem as you can get. just open the 5ft wide door, face the seat with your but, step on the tire, and back in. Pull your knee up and in the plane. 6'6" guys fit great in leg, head and shoulder room with no real compromises in any.
The Rotax 912s is miserly at 4.5gph cruising typically at 100mph (+/- 5-7mph depending on tire size, gear type, prop pitching, etc.). Smooth, quiet, and low maint.
You can find really nice "S" models (the newest) for $50-60K with low/mid time. Older models like WWHunter has for less, with very little trade off, if any depending what you like.
Very capable STOL airplane. Better speed than a cub for 1/2 the fuel burn. Good useful load. Do the work youself if an EAB or E-LSA. Hard to beat.

Super easy to get in the back seat too

"My father in law (below) and I were literally the two biggest guys to climb out of the smallest plane. I'm 6'7" and 265# and Jack is 6'6" and around 230#."
