Good news, bad news--Superior's acquisition by the German company, Thielert, was very unfortunate, I was surprised to see Texans taken in-but fraud is fraud,we all get fooled, I've seen plenty of it after 30 yrs on Wall Street----"Thielert AG is a German financial holding company which has owned engine development and manufacturing companies. It is headquartered in Hamburg. Companies owned were Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH with sites in Lichtenstein, Saxony and Altenburg, Thuringia and Superior Air Parts, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, USA. Thielert AG is quoted on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and was a member of the SDAX. The main operating unit, Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH, declared insolvency on 24 April 2008. Since then the business of the engine manufacturer has been run by the insolvency administrator, Bruno M. Kübler, who has restructured the company and is now looking for a new investor.
Th key here is that it was a financial holding company when it bought Superior. So, they lied to Superior, bought the company, milked it of cash and nearly destroyed it--fortunately they were caught before the complete demise of Superior.
So, Superior, on its last financial legs, is approached by a Chinese ( gov't ) company--( notice how many GA companies the Chinese are buying--Cirrus!)--they offer a recapitalization and the ability to continue their US biz, and will set up mfg'ng in China--they lost some quality employees, but maintained their technology and IP--I'm not going to get into China, the bubble , etc--that's for later--but for now, Superior manufactures "superior" products, has serviced all it's past commitments--and has a bright future--
The Bad--Superior never made the camshafts--and the company that did ( in biz since the 40's) has folded under the current Administrations reg's and tax and health care burdens--so, I don't know where the current camshafts are being manufactured--happy mine are of the original company--
P.S. :I am not China phobic, not in the least--all this current MSM BS about China displacing the US is the same as the early 80's when Japan was suppose to do the same thing--I do qualify this with the possibility that the US could have very serious problems, if there isn't a significant change in DC-- but back to engines--Superior--excellent--
