Swap turn coord for AI on a Venturi?

Quick one,

Slanted 7AC panel, Venturi driven, can I swap the turn coordinator for a vac attitude indicator (with slip skid ball bezel)?

I know the AI has the weighted vanes to self erect, but would this work?

Thanks

Every plane I have seen with just a turn coordinator has a small venturi. Attitude indicator (horizon), and Gyro compas both require a large venturi. If you have compass and attitude indicator the plane will have 2 large venturis and a regulator. Never bothered to check and see if the two sizes of venturis have the same mounting bolt pattern. Hope this is what you wanted.

Interesting

I wonder how I’d go about looking up the amount of vac needed by the instrument the amount produced by the Venturi

Currently it’s just the turn needle as far as gyros go in the plane

Turn Coordinators need about 2". An AI runs on about 4".

Apparently they are listed by the amount of vacuum produced, not the diameter.

Indeed

Found a photo of a edo/cessna AI

Image

Requires 4-5.4 in vac

So that’s at least a 4” Venturi

Hmm

I have a complete two Venturi (looks to be larger venturies - maybe 12") system for sale w regulator and hoses removed from a Stinson. Let me know if you are interested. It pulled 4" from the takeoff roll.

Thanks

Being it’s a little champ and it was just recovered, I’m just going stick with the smaller Venturi it has and the turn rate needle
