T206H lifting eyes

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

T206H lifting eyes

Merry Christmas everyone. Our new to us 2001 T206H has four lifting rings above fuselage. I'm almost certain it doesn't have a float kit; but, wondering if anyone knows why the lifting rings?
Thanks

Re: T206H lifting eyes

May have come that way from the factory or somewhere down the line someone wanted it that way (gear change possible rescue). A lot of things done in aviation are done simply because that is how someone was told to do it. If your operation had 4 lifting eyes and 4 point hoist on the planes you worked/trained on and someone had a story of failure with lifting on two you would always want 4. If all you every saw was planes with two lifting eyes they that would seem normal to you. Check the logs and see if someone had reason to put them in like wing change or special use.

Re: T206H lifting eyes

Thanks Denny, we got her home the week before Xmas so everything (including 2 out of 3 insurance checkouts) are on hold until after the New Year due to traveling. Then, we'll bet into the logbooks much more than prebuy.

Re: T206H lifting eyes

The Cessna 206 need's 4 lifting rings to lift level. That is standard for any float 206.

Lifting rings are excellent for maintenance so much easier than jacking up Aircraft.

I put lifting rings on all my aircraft for that reason.

What he ^^^^ said. The C 185 also has four lifting rings. If you do choose to lift with those rings, be sure to use a spreader bar between the right and left front set.

Re: T206H lifting eyes

I've wondered if my none float kit 180K could have those lifting eyes installed. Also, I've thought even if I had a float kit with lifting, I would have the plane very low on fuel and maybe take the seats out to lighten as much as possible.

Re: T206H lifting eyes

Since not a floatplane; I imagine all tire/etc. changes will be done with single bottle jack. I don't have an overhead crane to take advantage of lifting eyes; used lots of spreader bars on heavy equipment in my past life. I still have the tall jacks for lifting our 210s for last 36 yrs; but, as best I can tell, no jack points on 206H. Kind of thinking we're going to like having fixed gear planes; lifting the 210s was always a little spooky and now being old, fat and cripple I kind of like the idea of keeping the plane a little more grounded. Also, last week, I was holding short to cross RW and watched another retired neighbor gear-up his Cardinal RG that he's owned for couple dozen years. Very sad. Upon seeing him cross the threshold I realized his gear was up and radioed power, power, power because that was all I could think of in those 2-3 seconds before the aluminum touched the concrete. We used airport's loader and got plane off the notam closed RW in about two hours with no further damage. Belly actually looked very good, considering.
Thanks for info.
