Good Day All,

My name is Sam and I am a keen pilot from New Zealand
I fly the only TC-20 in the country and my problem is that it is very hard to get good backcounry pilots to learn from which meant I had to teach myself (the hard way) how to utilize my wings to the best of the ability.
I am after anyone who can give me more information about short field techniques as I am trying to establish a very short adulated peace of dirt (2000ft AMSL) as a potential landing spot.
I'll need all the advice because I do not want to end up in the tree at the end.

Just kidding, but try your techniques on a longer runway first of course

Many, too many years ago I had a Taylorcraft #15 A with C-145

same airframe as your Ranchwagon..flew it in and out of anything I needed back then. Tail was light as I remember when alone and full fuel.

T-carts have Great Wings, slats helped with slow speed control

Do you still have fiberglass cover ? Few years ago there was one for sale in Montana, it had not been flown in a while and had orignal cover.

I loved that old 15, bought it in soldotna for $4,500 with skis and all.....

Skysign : I own two Model 20 Taylorcraft that I fly regularly here in the USA. They are a very good performing 4 place airplane that was supposed to be the competetion to the Cessna 180. Cessna became world famous and Taylorcraft went bankrupt after producing only 37 or 38 total aircraft between the model 15 and the model 20. The very last model made was called the model 500, which they only made one. It was a tricycle gear model, which they converted back to conventional gear to sell when they were going bankrupt. A friend here in the States is the owner of the last model. What brakes do you have installed on your Model -20 ??? The Cleveland disc brakes are the better brakes. The Goodyear brakes are the less desireable. As to your question on short-field operation, if you have 2000 ft of runway, you have plenty of room as long as you don't have four people and full fuel and hot weather {100* F. } and high density altitude.Feel free to E-mail me with any questions at [email protected]
