Take a swim

Leaving in AM for Idaho with my grandson. Would like to find a good spot to camp where there is shade and a place to swim.

Going to have to find a lake, because all running water is lethal right now. Cavanaugh Bay?

Re: Take a swim

Two places I can think of off hand.

1. Pine, Idaho (walk to the lake)

2. Cascade and grab the courtesy van. Drive through town going north and dip in the Payette River east side of the highway.

Re: Take a swim

Still not too sure where we will end up. Asher wants to shoot stuff so that leaves a lot of places out.

Follow my spot if you wish. Leaving this morning.

Re: Take a swim

Moose Creek strip.

Last weekend, the water was crazy high, and chilly, but the area at the NW corner of the confluence of Moose and the Selway has a huge eddy that made for fine swimming (at 97F!). There was not that much traffic last weekend. Parts of the strip had grass up to the side windows, but both runways have been brushed out to 12' wide by all the other Lycoming powered weed wackers. You can use the middle third of the main runway where the grass is short, and the best parking/camping (shortest grass for tiedowns) is still in the old sign area west of the intersection.
