If this stuff interests you, be sure to read “Bound for the Backcountry” by Richard H Holm

It is a fantastic read and goes into great historical detail of many of the homesteads and airstrips in the Frank Church Wilderness area

Thanks for the tip on the book Jay. I going to look for a copy.

I have a collection of books on the history of the Mountains around where I live in Central Washington. I think they should be required reading for current Forest Service employees and the contractors the Forest service has turned the camp grounds over to.
