For Fly-ins or camping where the airplane will be my base camp I use a tipi made by Kifaru. http://www.kifaru.net.

They are designed to take use a wood stove which can be used for heat or cooking and are very lightweight.

Looking ahead to some camping.
Anyone have a tent made to fit the wing?
Who would I get to make me one?
What would be the best material to use?
I know a big ol Blue tarp would work, but sure would like to design mine and have it made so it would fit right and tie down correctly.

There is a built in table in the rear!! Pull the seats and have leather covered camp chairs along with one built in rubber one?
Yes I have to pack that ladder to put fuel in!
Also looking for a couple of trail 90's or something similar?
Weight is not a problem!! Even with full tanks!
Has altitude compensating throttle??

Call Alaska Tent and Tarp

I have to agree with DenaliPilot, Alaska tent and tarp makes one called Artic Oven ( http://www.alaskatent.com/oven/oven8.html ) it can be purchased with a small sheet metal wood stove and chimney and the Artic Oven 8 only weighs 34 lbs. with the wood stove.

Arctic ovens are great for certain things. I have one. But they will also custom make anything you can sketch on the back of an envelope. They do a couple custom jobs per year for us. Ask for Rae at the Anchorage store.

There are already commercially available tents that slide over the wing. Saw one this summer at Sullivan Lake. I just laughed. They make no sense. Every time the wing moves in windy weather now your tent moves. Plus you are limited to however high your wing is. I prefer stand up head room.

George with that airplane, just get one of the roll out RV camper awnings and fasten to the side. (like an old movie screen).

BIggest downside to wing tents that I can see is that you can't leave camp behind to make a sortie run with your plane.
