Texas Hill Country

Anyone know of any backcountry strips in the Texas Hill Country area? I suppose most of them are private? I got a J3 Cub.

I have been living in Bridgeport, Tx for 2.5 years and as far as i can find, all of the "back country" strips are private. I have flown quite a bit in the hill country and out west (big bend), Del Rio. Lots of ranch strips, all marked private. I have, on some occasions, contacted the owner in advance for permission, usually get a no answer. Can't blame them, no one wants to get sued.

Oklahoma is the same way. We do have lots of purlic grass, but it's not the same as flying out to go camp off the map

Here looks like a really nice place to settle if anyone is interested. I kind of know the area and it's in a great part of SW Texas. I have some friends that live nearby in Mico and there's a huge lake there for all your water sports if that's what your into also.
