Thanksgiving fun flight with the Stinsons

Nate and I went for a fun little local flight, so I made a short video of it. Thanks Bushwagon for the tasty hot dogs and the warm welcome, you have quite the place down there. Thanks Nate for letting me follow you around all day.

The shot at 1:35 is awesome; Wingman's view of the landing.

Wish I could've played! I was sick all week....so little progress on my Stinson was made. Though today I got access and training on the hangar / paint booth I'll be using this winter to do the covering and painting on the wings!

Great video! You guys had just too much fun! :D

May I ask you how you installed the camera inside of the cockpit? It looks like if you have no issues with vibration at all!? A picture of the mount would also be highly appreciated. 8)

Cheers, Oliver

Great video as always. That landing you did looked deceiving it looked like you were still moving at a good clip right at the end...got my attention for a second. Nice camera angles. I wish I had some inflight video of my airplane like that. I have some nice stills thanks to Emflys but something about seeing your own plane flying is exciting.

Oliver, I use a ram mount and a custom “case” to mount the Kodak Playsport. James made up a very nice wing strut mount to hold up the playsport, maybe he can post some pics too (my wing strut mount is a little shaky as you can see). Next time I’m out there I’ll take a pic of the inside setup.

I like to practice real world short field landings to keep sharp (this strip is at 7008ft elev). I picked a spot about 400-500 feet from the fence for my touchdown spot and put it in nice and tight. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, but when I get some bushwheels for pasture flying, I want to be sharp and confident when picking off airport spots. Also the landing is sped up 1.5x, so it looks a little more intimidating. I still had a fair amount of braking left.

It’s nice to have Nate around. I’ve been flying from our strip for 6 years prior to Nate getting 25M, the closest plane was 15nm away. It’s nice to have a buddy to fly around with! Nate is sure getting sharp flying 25M too.

I'll admit that I lifted off my seat a bit as you approached the house...

I didn't. I've flown with him enough now that I've learned to just keep my eyes closed :^o

It does look WAY fast in the vid. I was standing next to mine and that hill was a very good gradient ( I had to add alot of power to get up it) and ate up any excess speed real quick and when he was at the top he was pretty slow and easily stopped and matt knows his airplane very well with exceptional skills. It is a fun little strip thats for sure.
