If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: Thankyou Soldiers and Veterans

I know a lot of folks here are past and present members of the military.

Thanks for your service!

Re: Thankyou Soldiers and Veterans

I was 500 AGL over Columbus this morning when the tower called out my traffic, "a pair of F-16's low level cutting in front of you". When I realized what they were doing, the Veteran's Day cemetery fly over, my eyes misted over.

It is a day to remember the one's that we used to fly with that paid to ultimate price so all of us can still roam the country in our air-cars.

Re: Thankyou Soldiers and Veterans

Make an point to call my Dad every 11/11 and say thanks for his service in WWII. Would love to be close enough to Washington, DC to be able to visit some friends at the Wall, but my thoughts are there.

As an aside: I watch a fair amount of Canadian Television ( an alternate view of the news is always informative and their political satire is way better than anything we have in the US ) and notice that almost to the person everyone is wearing a poppy for the week preceding and through Nov. 11th. When was the last time you saw a commemorative poppy on anyone's lapel.

I remember as a kid the poppy was everywhere but now it is almost non-existent. A very little thing but out of sight out of mind.

Re: Thankyou Soldiers and Veterans

Bill Reid spent the night at my place the other night and we exchanged war stories for a while. He pretty much kicked my ass. I never heard a shot fired in anger but had a few interesting experiences. Thanks every one, but I really did not give much.

Whenever I am in a coffee shop and see a GI there, I buy him his lunch and say thanks. Always give a sappy salute whenever I run across them.

Well Tim nobody ever sneaked up on a sub while you were a tail gunner on. I just spent more time on shore "visiting " the tropical rain forest . Looking for plants and monkey species .I was just lucky my name didn't end up on the big dark Vietnam Memorial -although I was close ,a number of times . signed "Give it back to the taxpayers Reid " Thanks Everyone now we need something about other returning Veterans. Search them out and give them a hand up -not a hand out. If the U,S, Government can go to the "aid" of people all over the world least we can do is help are returning Veterans with whatever help we can give. Jobs would be great to get this economy going again, and keep Veterans first. They defended your freedom so you can do what you want and not have to speak a different language or live under Nazi rule or even worse. No mater what there job or rank in whatever branch of the military they did there job so you could enjoy the freedoms we have today. I'm not too happy about the present administration but' it still a hell of a lot better than the rest of the world has to put up with. Thank You Veterans one and all --- AIM HIGH !
