Well, the final verdict came in on the ground loop damage. The estimate to repair was about 42K. That didn't include what might be found after the prop strike tear down on the engine with about 1500 hours. Since it was an 0360 A1A hollow crank......I just sniffled and signed it over to the insurance company as a total.......At least I came out on it well enough to be shopping for another bird.
Looking at a 182J right now with the 206 nose fork, <3000 TT, about 500 SMOH, and 1100 SPOH. Cool digital avionics too(Apollo SL60 gps/com driving an Apollo MX20 MFD, and an Apollo digital transponder), extended fuel. I just may be flying in the backcountry up here in a trike cuz the price is right. I can run a 7.50 on the nose and 8.00's on the mains to land on the beaches......8.50's all the way around with a Landes fork.
While I am happy with the way things turned out with the insurance. I am sure gonna miss the ole girl. For those that don't know what the buzzard was, it was a C172 Taildragger, Avcon 0360 conversion. See the avatar.
