Guess they prefer to get run over instead of getting the airbag in the face? #-o

Same here in Idaho. Ada county sheriffs department in Boise had like 123 wrecks between like 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

That's why I stayed home this weekend!! The road between Emmett and Eagle is notorious for wrecks. Even when the road is dry!

Nights like this in the PNW is like driving on a hockey rink with a 15 degree tilt.

Check the guy going absolutely sideways down the hill.

The guy on the balcony with the video cam had the right idea, hot drink, warm clothes, and well clear of the fools.

I like the first guy. Sounded like full power thinking that would help.

Re: The end of the civilized world...

A shortlived cold low swept through the area yesterday afternoon. It started snowing at 2pm, and dropped nearly 4" at my house in Portland, which is at 680 MSL. My girlfriend called me right when it started snowing (she works about 8 miles away) and I said: "Get in your car and get home NOW."

An hour later, every freeway in the Portland metro area was completely gridlocked. I walked down to the mini-mart for a six-pack and there were cars on the 26 freeway sideways into the K-rail, abandoned cars with hazards on, and a see of lights stretching for miles behind them.

I guess you can't really blame them, they only get to practice snow driving twice a year while surrounded on all sides by other cars. I love driving in the snow, but when it snows in town like this I don't even go out for fear of getting nailed by some jackass on the brakes.

Google live traffic from yesterday evening, worst I've ever seen it:
