The Elysian Fields or Elysium refer to a beautiful meadow in Homer where the favored of Zeus enjoy perfect happiness. By the time of Vergil (Virgil), the Elysian Fields had been located in the Underworld as the home of the dead who were judged worthy. In the Aeneid, those blessed dead compose poetry, sing, dance, and tend to their chariots.

Too many mosquitos for Elysium. (But lots of chariots to attend too at any rate.) Flying in this part of the country really is fun. It has nothing on AK of course (different ballgame), but the zillion landing areas (lakes) and a fairly benevolent public attitude towards sea and skiplanes (part of the landscape people grow up with) let you go just about anywhere in the state, Summer or Winter.
