Remember the 5 P's? Prior Planning Prevents poor performance...
Well this ol aircraft made a one way trip to Black Rock. Flew out yesterday to check it out. They are having to move it off the Blm land and onto a very small square of private property. It's basically going to be parked at Soldier meadows on the north end of Black Rock until next years BM event. So much for the leave no trace concept. Sure was cool to see regardless

If it looks smooth, it might be. If it looks rough, it is...www.bigtirepilot.com ...www.alaskaheliski.com
Well it clearly needs bigger tires.

An update - the BLM folks were there during HSF and to stay on their good side, pilots are advised to land on the playa and WALK (not taxi) to the 747. It's parked on private land, but just next to it in the area everybody has taxid up to the aircraft is - and yup, a few pilots laughed when they told us this! - Kitfox habitat.

If there was ever a group to big-tire a 747 for backcountry work, this is it.

I was wondering the same thing.
Edit: Looks like it has been brought out there in pieces over the past few years.
