The times, they are a changin'

I went in for my flight physical recently. It was the last one to be filled out on a paper application. It got me thinking. I took my written for my private on paper, using the E6-B and a pencil. It was hand graded.
I took my instrument written on the computer, as I did on subsequent ratings.
Then I was out at the airport last week and friend with a PT-22 was demonstrating the iPad with the ForeFlight on it. It was an incredible tool. He said he has gone paperless, no more buying sectionals. It is all on the iPad by subscription.
On the way home I bought a new sectional. I was thinking is this the last paper sectional I'll buy?

I was visiting the kids the other day, asked if they had a newspaper handy, I was told to get up with the times old man we don't get newspapers any more. We get all right here on this ipad, ya know that fly never knew what hit him.

What a contrast between old and new tech: a PT22 and an i-pad.

Yep, that's true, but it makes the elevation colors really hard to distinguish.

A sectional doesn't turn off because it is low on power....
or 'freeze up'.

Not that i don't love my iPad...

I'll give one prop to the iPad...it doesn't blow out the window / door when you open it in flight. But...if you drop it out the same...it's a much bigger deal. #-o
