I remember hearing of a study or experiment where they had a drunk pilot and a very un rested pilot fly a sim, as I recall the tired guy was worse than the guy a few sheets to the wind, anyone have any info on this or the story?
Was looking to show someone a comparison on how bad lack of rest can be, but I can’t find it
Thanks

I don't have any drunk data. I have personal experience with the tired situation. In 1971 when the First Air Cavalry was supporting Army of the Republic of Vietnam, who were being driven out of Cambodia by the North Vietnamese Army, we were spending 16 hours daily to get 10 hours of Cobra time in support. We could not land in Cambodia. Yes, a really stupid way to fight a war. On our late return to Tay Ninh at the end of each day we were experiencing some hard landings. While attempting approach to a hover, many of us were banging into the perforated steel plank runway and sliding on like an airplane. Fatigue from lack of sleep is real.
