OK, I’ve had the souped up version of the Go-Ped. If this review is for real , I will have me one.

Re: The ultimate scooter for the plane

Be careful what you wish for! These electric thingies are addictive, I'm building up my 5 th ebike right now! Unlike a lot of cheap scooter junk on the market, this thing has high quality components, and the company selling them, LUNA, are first and foremost, enthusiasts, That battery is huge, and high quality (Panasonic) 20 AH is 3 AH more then on my fatbike, and that thing wears me out before it peters out, like 20 + mile rides on steep rocky terrain. A scooter with that much juice is really out there, and it will I'm sure absolutely smoke a Go-Ped. BTW: I used to fly hang gliders with the inventor of the Ped, Steve Patmont, he was flying a Mitchell rigid Wing, when everyone else was flying the early rag wing hang gliders. The silence and instant torque of any electric vehicle, scooter, bike, a Tesla, is totally different from an ICE powered machine, and really has to be experienced.

I have NO interest in the LUNA, I'm just a satisfied customer and like the way they do business. They will not pick up the phone though.....if you have questions use their customer support blog https://lunacycle.com/support/ and they have a staff of other enthusiasts respond through that. Their company reminds me very much of the early ultralight aircraft company I was a dealer for, Pterodactyl. The owner, Jack McCornack, was a gonzo pilot (first to fly coast to coast along with another 'dac pilot, with no ground crew, real barnstorming) and then his passion developed, exploded really, into a viable business that he and his wife, then numerous employees, struggled to keep up with. So be prepared to cut them some slack, these are not pro business people (look at their pictures), but there stuff is not throwaway junk like a lot of e bike/scooter crap I see.

The sad thing is, the Luna scoot is a real bargain! https://minimotorsusa.com/products/dual ... b3EALw_wcB

Re: The ultimate scooter for the plane

Looks it might be a great addition for the plane but have a very basic question.
At 70 lbs is there a comfortable way to tote these things around on one wheel to make transport easier?

Re: The ultimate scooter for the plane

Don't know about that. I think these scooter geeks just ride the things everywhere! I prefer a tire with a little more diameter myself, as in bike sized. I notice almost all the videos of these things shows them being used in urban enviros, as in paved. Once I realized that the proper bike in my plane would not only offer a way to get around the airport and surrounding area, PLUS also mountain trail ride about anywhere, I keep track of all these other airplane worthy modes of transport, but don't know a whole lot about them.

The extra weight is an unavoidable factor of the large battery, which not only offers longer range but more power/acceleration as more amps can be quickly drawn out without encountering voltage sag. So, less weight =lesser performance overall. That's how it is with my ebikes anyway. One strategy to get around that a bit is to use an in between size battery, a compromise, along with a smaller "get home" battery.

Wow Tom, You’re right, compared to the other scooters on the market it is a much better value. Like other tech maybe with time prices will come down considerably.

Just a Matter of time before some ingenious young Lad comes up with a way of mounting these type motors to each wheel of a STOL mount. Then do as the F1 guys and use braking power to help to recharge the batteries.
It will happen!
