Re: Think of the possabilties/new engine technology

This is a promising engine for aircraft and what makes it that way, just as important as the design, is the funding from the defense department. The only choice these days from the private sector seems to be to obtain financing from the Chinese. (Of course not a good choice for the defense department.) The development of the MYT engine which is more powerful yet, was stopped by lack of private R&D funding which in turn dried up as venture capital loose change disappeared in the economic meltdown. Now as fuel prices start to go up over the Mideast unrest, fuel efficiency competition will restart. Unfortunately on again off again startups in engine designs do not produce an end product, it is a long term project requiring financial commitment through cheaper fuel times. Also, I am still waiting for restart on the Smartplugs internal combustion steam engine powered by hydrous ethanol which stopped in '08 for shortage of available R&D funding.

This engine by the way was on a thread earlier this winter but I am kind of an engine nut so this works for me.

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.
