Landed on a gravel bar and my 26" Goodyears pinched a baseball sized rock right through the prop arc. Thank goodness if missed the prop! That's a new one on me. It was my lucky day. Take a look at the video at about 59 seconds and you will see it on the left side of the video.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

It happens. Treaded tires are worse by far, and your tail takes most of the beating.

If you can't live with a few rock dings.....stick to airports....

That said, looked like a lot of good landing spots there, and off airport is great fun.

rock's

Your video reminded me of a similar situation. In the early 60's I was driving a machine gun jeep (no top) patrolling the east German Border. We had been on a muddy dirt road, and when we pulled out onto the pavement under acceleration at about 40mph a glob of mud ( about the size of a big wad of bubble gum) came off the right front tire. Now how in the world it missed hitting the fender I don't know, how in the world it shot out ahead of us 75 feet or so, I don't know, why it managed to miss the windshield I don't know. How it managed to hit old Sarg square in the forehead, I don't know, but I do know it put me in hystrices. God I'm laughing right now!! I'm glad it missed your bird, it's a looker.

While aviation has made the world a smaller place, if you fall, it's still hard to miss!
