Here's a photo of N89923 with my wife Sarah in 1981 on the Susitna River. It seems that both are still going strong!

That’s awesome! It went through a 10+ year restoration. My favorite plane to fly. Still flies straight and behaves herself. Most of the skins were replaced due to corrosion on both the fuse and wings and a O-200 added.

Your restoration looks great. We flew that C140 all over AK and she was always dependable and a joy to fly. Thanks for being a loving caretaker of a wonderful airplane.

Anybody know if I can put a 8.0-6 tire on a 206 nose fork? It’s got a 7.0-6 on there now and -looks- like there may be room...

Thanks to everyone who posted their tire/wheel photos. I used many for the new Tire Guide article in the knowledge base:

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Any comments/concerns about smooth tires on wet pavement? Is hydroplaning a real threat?

Ohhhhh, for those of us long of tooth here on BCP.
"How do I hydroplaning the wheels?"

Why would it be an issue even if you did hydroplaning the wheels? Concerned about stopping?

Not so much stopping as directional control?
Maybe it’s a non-issue...

Yeah, it can be kinda like being on a wet ice and gravel mix. One wheel grabs while the other slides and things can get wonky a bit. But, both tires on top an H2O layer evenly, is a non event.

My only experience is on ice, not wet pavement but same issues, no? I think the rudder would be effective at the speeds you would hydroplane.
Smooth tires on ice is fun, I highly recommend it.
